The meeting between the Barcelona forward and Coach Edgardo Bauza on Thursday sounds fruitful as Lionel Messi has agreed to play for his nation again after the quit in June
Argentina’s Coach Edgardo Bauza claimed after his meeting with Lionel Messi on Thursday that the pair did not discuss the forward’s come back to the national team, but Messi is all set to make his comeback and could be seen playing in the side’s World Cup qualifiers next month.
Messi quit the national team after Argentina lost to Chile on penalties in the final of the Copa America Centenario in June. That was the fourth final he had lost with the Albiceleste and to make matters worse, he missed his spot-kick in the shootout. Copa America Centenario in June was the last series that Messi played. After the defeat against Chile on penalties in the final match, Messi said that,
“The national team is over for me”
Football fans across Argentina were shocked and campaigned literally for Messi’s return.
After stepped down as coach, Bauza was assigned as Argentinean Coach after Gerardo Martino. San Lorenzo and Sao Paulo were in Barcelona on Thursday to have a meeting with Messi and team-mate Javier Mascherano.
58 year old Argentinean coach said to media reporters after the meet that,
“We didn’t speak about his return. It was a chat about football. I will call him in the coming days.”
And when asked about Messi’s come back Coach said, “I have no doubt he has a desire to return, but we will have to wait.”
Bauza is training the team for the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela on the birth of September and Messi will be back for those two games.
The 29-year-old is all set for playing for his country again and will to be listed in the Bauza’s first squad on Friday evening..
